Frequently Asked Questions

Browse through these FAQs to find answers to commonly raised questions. If crowdfunding is a new concept to you, we encourage you to read through the answers.

What is Crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is the concept of collecting money for a cause through many people instead of one.  As now there is internet, it is now possible to fund and collect money for a project.

For example, you can raise funds for launching a new product. Or as a Backer, you may give funds to a project that you like.

Why do people back projects?

A lot of people are rallying around their friends’ projects. Some are supporting people they’ve long admired. Many are just inspired by a new idea. Others are inspired by a project’s rewards — a copy of what’s being made, a limited edition, or a custom experience related to the project.

Backing a project is more than just giving someone money. It’s supporting their dream to create something that they want to see exist in the world.

Can Seedbie be used to fund anything?

We allow creative projects in the fields of Art, Comics, Crafts, Design, Fashion, Film & Video, Food, Games, Journalism, Photography, Publishing, Technology etc.

Everything on Seedbie must be a project. A project has a clear goal, like making an album, a book, or a gadget. A project will be completed at some point, and something will be produced by it.

Seedbie does not allow projects to fundraise for charity or offer financial incentives. Check out our rules for details.

What type of Campaign options are there?

There three types of Campaign. Flexible Target, Fixed Target and Equity Option.

Flexible Target enables the campaigners to collect funds even if it doesn’t meet their fundraising goal.

Fixed Target is important for projects which requires a minimum amount of money to start. If target is met, campaigner will get all the money otherwise money will be refunded to the backers.

Equity Option is really a good option if you want to get investment from people giving away some portion of your profit. This option is suitable for Startups who want to continue their project in the long term. Currently, this is not available here. But very soon, this option will be enabled.

Who is responsible for completing a project as promised?

It’s the project creator’s responsibility to complete their project. Seedbie is not involved in the development of the projects themselves. What we do is verify the identity of the owners just to make sure they are real person.

Seedbie does not guarantee projects or investigate a creator’s ability to complete their project. On Seedbie, backers ultimately decide the validity and worthiness of a project by whether they decide to fund it.
